SunSolutions also announced that from May 7 to June 30 customers may order a free single-user copy of ShowMe 1.1 with each purchase of the SPARCstation(TM) LX or SPARCclassic(TM) from Sun Microsystems Computer Corporation (SMCC) or an SMCC authorized reseller. The new SunSolutions product has all the powerful, easy-to-use features of the ShowMe 1.0 software, plus full-screen capture, document and image panning, and scrolling. In addition, the ShowMe 1.1 user interface, on-line help and printed documentation are available in French and German versions as well as English. To evaluate the ShowMe 1.1 software, users may request a demonstration copy of the product in any of the three languages. "SunSolutions designed the ShowMe software to be a powerful tool with a graphical user interface that is elegant, intuitive and easy-to-use," said Byron Ryono, general manager of SunSolutions. "Customer research and ongoing feedback have shown that we succeeded. Users are learning the product quickly with no training. The ShowMe interface allows technology to provide many of the same benefits of a face-to-face meeting without the users ever leaving their offices." Enhanced Communication and Collaboration ShowMe software provides a shared "desktop conference board" that lets SPARC(R) workstation users conduct on-line meetings where they can simultaneously view and annotate spreadsheets, drawings and other documents over TCP/IP networks. In a ShowMe conference, each user has a separate, personalized on-screen marker which is visible to all participants and can be used to express ideas visually by pointing, gesturing and making annotations as one would in a face-to-face meeting. With the ShowMe product, users can quickly share documents or images with other participants, allowing for instant feedback. For example, a participant could "snap" or select a portion of a spreadsheet, and that portion instantly and automatically becomes visible to every other participant. The participants can then discuss and mark up the image. If a change is needed, a user can simply click on the patent- pending Active Window(TM) feature, make the change, and click "snap" again to share the modified spreadsheet with the rest of the group. Unique Customer Feedback System Customer input is a primary force for new product development at SunSolutions. Engineers designed into the ShowMe software a communications feature called `Comment on ShowMe' that automatically sends user feedback to SunSolutions via electronic mail. "This close customer contact helps ensure that our products are designed to fit the way people work," Ryono said. Customers are using the ShowMe product to enhance phone conversations with illustrations and notes as well as to replace costly travel. Users may import their work onto the conference board for instant input from colleagues to a proposal or design, instead of printing, photo- copying, faxing, express mailing or travelling. Professionals in a wide range of technical and commercial markets can use ShowMe software to collaborate on projects. Key application areas include medical imaging, finance, real estate, retail, telemarketing, education, government, CASE and CAD. Pricing and Availability The ShowMe 1.1 software is available for delivery beginning this month in English, French and German, and is distributed worldwide through SMCC and SunExpress. The product is also distributed in the United States through authorized resellers including Access Graphics, Inc., Arrow Electronics, Inc., ComputerLand Corp. and Intelligent Electronics. Introductory prices will be available through June 30. Ten-concurrent-user floating licenses have a suggested list price of $1,100. License volume packages in quantity 100 and 500 have a suggested list price of $10,000 and $50,000, respectively. A single-user license with documentation and media has a suggested list price of $349. Secondary licenses without media or documentation have a suggested list price of $319.
